The 2022 Theme:
The challenges of the past two years have created many needs in Columbus. This year at the O2 Conference we’re taking the opportunity to focus on our local schools. Teachers, administrators, students, and parents have all been stretched to cope with the pandemic. New ways of living are unfolding even as people try to remember how to relate to each other at school. Some of the support structures that used to be there have been weakened or disappeared. There are shortages of volunteers, supplies, support, and normalcy. It’s clear that we’re in a destabilized moment where people are reconnecting, resetting, and reorienting.
Every year we welcome a broad range of ideas to apply. This year, we’ll prioritize ideas that are most strongly connected to this theme. What needs are you noticing? With a little support, what idea would you be excited about seeing come to life? Maybe you have an idea for helping students build a network of relationships and feel like they belong. Maybe you’ve begun building the parallel universe app for Tik Tok where students get to know each other by serving together instead of destroying bathrooms. Or is your idea related to recognizing teachers for their amazing efforts or partnering with them to fill gaps? Is there a way to draw people together on behalf of leaders who get attacked for every decision? We want to provide a platform for you to try out your idea. We want to see people and schools THRIVE.
The word THRIVE has been at the center of every O2 Conference since it began. UALC started this conference in 2018, to discover with the community, how we can meet the needs of people all over the city by working together. You can read more about UALC and why it provides this unique opportunity below.

Here's the process for applying to the 2022 conference. Young people in grades 6-12 develop an idea and submit their application. Teams typically fall into these two age groups but any combination of grades is welcome.
Middle School (6-8th Grade)
High School (9-12th Grade)
Individuals or teams can begin the online application starting on November 18, 2021. For more details on the commitment and expectations, download the information packet.
If you began an application but missed the deadline please contact the O2 Team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Applications closed for 2022
The O2 Conference is an event where the audience participates! Come listen to ideas, support young people, and vote for the ideas you want to see launched. Be inspired by how much middle and high school students care about their city. Share your thoughts on what you believe are the needs of our community.
The hope is that everyone in attendance walks away feeling like they’ve experienced a breath of fresh air. Your attendance let's you play a part in advancing these ideas. There are a limited number of in-person tickets available. Click on the button below to register. There is no online or live streaming option this year.
